Elmore Oil Company will Partner with The Smith Family to Generate Funds for Aussie Kids in Sport
Bendigo, Australia (PRWEB) April 23, 2008 -- In 2006 The Elmore Oil Company officially launched the Future Champions Program, to assist the development of aspiring young Australian athletes. Targeting athletes in the 12 - 25 age bracket and with very simple qualifying criteria, Aussie kids have been able to obtain financial grants to assist with travel, high level coaching, purchase of equipment or access to competitions in their chosen field.
Now The Elmore Oil Company has partnered with one of Australia most respected non-profit organisations, The Smith Family, to increase opportunities for the disadvantaged young people it supports, enabling them to access funding to assist with sport related expenses. The Smith Family helps disadvantaged children reach their potential through education. Through its Learning for Life suite of interconnecting programs, financially disadvantaged students are supported with financial scholarships to assist with education expenses plus they are able to access personal development support which develops students informal learning and socialisation, and offers opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sport.
The administration and selection process will be managed by a panel appointed by The Smith Family and the program will be co-promoted to the community by The Smith Family and the Elmore Oil Company. The company's managing director, Mark Linford, says the company is excited about the prospects of the partnership, helping Aussie kids to reach their dreams in their chosen sporting field, as well as contributing to personal development.
"The Future Champions Program is an exciting initiative and we are thrilled to be able to help young Australians to excel in their chosen field and we are also excited about the partnership we have formed with The Smith Family as it broadens our reach in terms of providing benefits to the community," says Linford.
"So many budding athletes struggle to make ends meet, whilst training several times a week, often travelling great distances to do so. Their parents fund much of the expense, placing additional burden on day to day expenses. If we can assist in some way then we will have done our small part to contribute to Australia's growth in sport and to the personal development of these wonderful individuals," adds Linford.
Head of Fundraising for The Smith Family, Kate Frost commented, "This partnership allows us to introduce the benefits of the Elmore Oil Future Champions Program to disadvantaged children on The Smith Family's Learning for Life programs. We are very pleased to be working with the Elmore Oil Company to widen the scope of our program and make a positive impact on the education and learning opportunities we offer young people as a result."
The Elmore Oil Company uses a number of key sporting role models to act as ambassadors for the Future Champions Program. The programs ambassadors are avid users and strong advocates of Elmore Oil Sports and all have a passion to see the growth of sport in Australia and as young Australians themselves they are keen to promote the opportunity for like minded young Australians to reach their full potential. Program ambassadors include Australian Olympian, Kyle Vander Kuyp, Australian Road Bike Champion, Zak Dempster, Australian Track Cyclist, Jessica Berry and emerging golfer and recipient of the Robert Allenby scholarship, Kris Mueck.
